<h2>About the PACT Act</h2>The PACT Act is a law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. It also extends eligibility for VA health care for Veterans with toxic exposures and Veterans of the Vietnam, Gulf War, and post-9/11 eras. Before the law, the Department of Veterans Affairs denied 70% of disability claims from Veterans impacted by burn pit exposure.Lauren Boebert Voted against the PACT Act, which has since granted benefits to nearly a million Veterans impacted by toxins While serving our county.

<h2>FIRST TV AD: Widow of Burn Pit Veteran Blasts Lauren Boebert for Disrespecting Her Family &amp; Veterans Exposed to Cancer Causing Toxins</h2>Danielle Robinson, the widow of SFC Heath Robinson, Endorses Calvarese&nbsp; Trisha Calvarese, the Democratic nominee running against Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District, released her first TV ad of the general election.&nbsp; The ad features Danielle Robinson, the widow of U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson. SFC Robinson was exposed to burn pits and cancer causing toxins during&nbsp; deployments to Iraq and Kosovo. When he came home, he was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer. SFC Robinson passed away in 2020. Thanks to the advocacy of Danielle, her mom Susan Zeier, a UAW retiree, and thousands of others, Congress passed the historic Honor Our PACT Act in 2022, delivering resources and health care access to the thousands of veterans exposed to toxic burn pits as a result of their service. The bill was named in honor of SFC Robinson.&nbsp;

Then, last fall, my mom called to tell me that she did not have long to live. She’d been caring for my dad, who had been battling cancer. With both parents facing terminal illnesses, I returned home to Highlands Ranch to provide end-of-life care for both my parents.&nbsp; My dad’s union pension covered his treatment. Medicare provided both of my parents the care they needed and gave us precious time together in the comfort of our home. It was thanks to my own union, AFGE 3403, that I was able to drop everything to take care of my parents.&nbsp; I’m running for the care and dignity of families in my hometown.&nbsp; Before he died, my dad told me to run. That meant a lot, especially from a guy who voted Republican his entire life.&nbsp; Lauren Boebert voted against lowering prescription drug costs, including the ones that extended my dad’s life, and I can’t let that stand.&nbsp; Systems of support and care are missing, and economic hardship on middle-class families are mounting. We need new opportunities to meet people where they are. We need paths into the middle class and ladders up everywhere, and not always requiring a four-year degree. With expertise navigating Washington and intimate knowledge of our district's needs, I promise you will be heard in Congress. As we rise to local challenges, from legislation I helped shape, I will work to bring home investments for union jobs, apprenticeships, workforce training, public education, and start-ups. Lauren Boebert starts off leading Democrat Trisha Calvarese by a sizable margin, but that lead turns into a nearly equal deficit after voters hear about Boebert's positions on abortion and other issues, according to an internal poll conducted by a Colorado firm for the Calvarese campaign.Boebert is one of six Republicans running in next month's primary for the seat formerly held by Republican Ken Buck, who resigned from Congress in March, while Calvarese, a former speechwriter for the AFL-CIO and staffer at the National Science Foundation, is one of three Democrats seeking her party's nomination in the solid red 4th Congressional District.In a simultaneous special election, voters in the district will also elect someone to fill the remainder of Buck's term through the end of the year, choosing between Calvarese,&nbsp;Republican Greg Lopez, Libertarian Hannah Goodman and Approval Voting Party nominee Frank Attwood.A Keating Research poll of likely voters made available for review to Colorado Politics found the better-known Boebert beating Calvarese 49% to 37%, with 12% undecided, in a hypothetical general election contest. However, Calvarese jumped to a 47% to 38% lead over Boebert, with 13% undecided, after voters were read a handful of statements about the two candidates. Both margins were outside the poll's 4.4% margin of error.The survey of 500 likely voters was conducted April 18-24 by live telephone interviewers. The pollster said the sample represents likely general election voters based on party registration, gender, age, region and ethnicity.Chris Keating, the Democratic firm's founder, told Colorado Politics the points that appeared to move voters most included Boebert's votes on veterans' health care legislation, her support for a national abortion ban and a reminder about the scandal that engulfed Boebert late last summer when she was <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.coloradopolitics.com/news/lauren-boebert-ejected-beetlejuice-performance-denver-complaints/article_18254bfe-51c8-11ee-9e6c-8b72a7bc9aae.html">ejected from a Denver performance of the musical "Beetlejuice"</a> for vaping and other disruptive behavior.That massive, unusual shift in voter sentiment suggests the state's most prominent Republican could be unexpectedly vulnerable if she wins the GOP nomination in her adopted district, said Keating, the only pollster to have accurately <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.coloradopolitics.com/elections/how-adam-frisch-saw-a-path-to-defeating-lauren-boebert-in-gop-leaning-colorado-district/article_782a9bd8-6120-11ed-9f88-9b358d2d855a.html">shown Boebert had a close race on her hands</a> in the last election.Boebert defeated Democratic challenger Adam Frisch in 2022 by fewer than 600 votes in the GOP-leaning 3rd Congressional District, a seat national election forecasters had called safely Republican up until Election Day. Buck had earlier announced he wouldn't seek reelection to a sixth term.Boebert's current position in the new district reflects her high unfavorable scores, said Keating, noting that his polling found she's deeply underwater, particularly with the district's unaffiliated voters."If you look at the demographics of the district, you've got an 18-point Republican advantage, and Buck won by 23-24 points," Keating said. "It’s a tough place for any Democrat to win, but I think having Boebert on the ticket, this poll shows Trisha has a real opportunity, because all these suburban-exurban voters are not too thrilled about her not standing up for veterans, her national abortion ban and the 'Beetlejuice' incident.""That’s what swings it," Keating added.
